A Letter from the President

Dear Alliance Members, Physicians and Physician Spouses,
The Bell County Medical Alliance welcomes you to join us for a very exciting year of fun, fellowship, fundraising, “hands-on” projects and scholarship to promote GREAT HEALTH in our community! We have dedicated 98 years of service to our medical family and to Bell County.
We are proud to announce, thanks to your generous donations and fundraising efforts, we were able to present a $10,000 scholarship to Jenna Wilson, a 4th year medical student at TAMHSC in Temple. We also awarded Elizabeth Jean, a graduating senior from Killeen High School, with a $2000 Allied Health Scholarship to attend Central Texas College the fall to pursue a nursing career. These scholarships come from our Non-Event Fundraiser and our Casino Night. Our Wild West Casino Night 2018 will be held on February 24, so please save the date.
The BCMA would like to continue our community involvement by supporting other local non-profit organizations whose missions fall in line with our Alliance goals. We were able to give and support the following local organizations: Camp DreamCatcher, Temple Community Clinic, Greater Killeen Free Clinic, Helping Hands Ministry of Belton, Tuesday Solace, Temple Senior Services, Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, Body of Christ Community Clinic, and Scott and White Training Texas Physicians Fund. Our community projects are funded solely by our Non-Event Fundraiser which is mailed out in November. Over $10,000 was raised last year and those funds distributed to these worthy Bell County non-profit organizations.
In addition to fundraising, BCMA will continue our service projects in the upcoming year. We will Walk With A Doc, monthly. We will serve Meals on Wheels routes, and provide food and donations to the volunteers in the community clinics of our county. Of course we plan to continue to serve children in our community with our Hard Hats for Little Heads program, and hope to start a new program called Storybook Project of Texas.
We will also be serving a hot meal for Feed My Sheep in November. If you would like more information on any of our projects or you are interested in volunteering, I’d love to visit with you.
Our focus through all of this is to connect and support members of the medical community. BCMA has a great balance of work and play! Our membership team has planned some fun socials to engage every age and interest. Please check out our website and our Facebook page to find out what’s next!
Please consider joining us this year! If time constraints do not permit you to participate in our projects, your support through membership will enable us to continue doing great service in Bell County. The more members we have, the more we can accomplish! Membership forms will be mailed by TMAA in October and forms will also be available at our Welcome Luncheon on September 15th.
Pick an event/project…come and check us out, we are looking forward to seeing you!
