Meals on Wheels

The Medical Alliance of Bell County began a volunteer Meals on Wheels program in 1983.  Meals are delivered to persons over the age of 60 who are home-bound and not able to provide for their meals.

The Alliance's route is on the north side of Temple and operates from Temple Senior Services Center, 15 North 2nd Street.  Our nine month schedule begins after Labor Day and continues until the end of May.  The Alliance pays a driver for the summer, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break holidays to ensure route coverage throughout the year.

Members deliver meals five days a week.  Volunteers work in pairs with each team driving  twice a month.  Another team of volunteers picks up the 5th days of the month during the year.  There is also a substitute list of drivers.  Volunteers do not deliver meals on Temple school district holidays.

Volunteers begin delivering meals at 11:00 am from the Temple Senior Services Center.
During April and May, volunteers are asked to sign up for the next year which begins in September.  Schedules are mailed to volunteers in August for the coming year.

Medical Alliance volunteers have proven to be responsible and dedicated to this program.
